Ancestry Library Edition

This site is only available to users inside the libraries.

Ancestry Library Edition The Ancestry Library Edition collection has approximately 4,000 databases including key collections such as U.S. Federal Census images and indexes from 1790 to 1930; the Map Center containing more than 1,000 historical maps; American Genealogical Biographical Index (over 200 volumes); Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage (over 150 volumes); The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1630; Social Security Death Index (updated monthly); WWI Draft Registration Cards; Federal Slave Narratives; and a strong Civil War collection. In the coming year, still more indexes and original images will be added to the new Immigration collection.


Bowker's Books in Print

Books In Print provides access to a comprehensive database of titles from over 165,000 publishers, distributors, wholesalers and book agents. Provides full-text reviews, full bibliographic information, and contact information for publishers.


EBSCO

MasterFILE Premier: Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 1,950 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also includes nearly 500 full text reference books, 84,011 biographies, 83,472 primary source documents, and an Image Collection of 192,999 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.

Auto Repair Reference Center: Contains complete automotive repair information supplied by Nichols Publishing, publisher of Chilton information. The step-by-step procedures are written for the Do-It-Yourselfer, but are comprehensive enough for professional technicians. Auto Repair Reference Center contains information on most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles, with repair information for most vintage makes starting as far back as 1954. New repair procedures and updates are added continuously.

Academic Search Elite: Academic Search Elite offers full text for more than 2,000 serials, including more than 1,500 peer-reviewed titles. This multi-disciplinary database covers virtually every area of academic study. More than 100 journals have PDF images back to 1985. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.

Business Source Premier: This is the industry's most used business research database, providing the full text for more than 8,800 serials. Business Source Premier provides full text back to 1965 and searchable cited references back as far as 1998. Coverage includes virtually all subject areas related to business. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.

Health Source Premiere: This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition features searchable full text for nearly 150 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis.

FACTS.com brings together complete content from the Facts On File World News Digest since 1980 and selected content from six other core reference databases to answer questions about events, issues, statistics and people of the last 20 years.

Gale Virtual Reference Library
Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These reference materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or remotely 24/7. Because each library creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different libraries (your school, your public library, or your office).

General BusinessFile ASAP 1980 - Present

Literature Resource Center - LRC, Scribner, Twayne US, Twayne English, and Twayne World Authors
Access biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of more than 120,000 authors from every age and literary discipline. Scribner Writer's Series includes 15-20 page signed essays on more than 1,600 authors and literary genres drawn from 13 Scribner print series. ALLDATA Online Automotive Repair Database

This site is available to patrons inside the State Library only.

Automobile repair information, wiring diagrams, and suggested maintenance schedules are available from ALLDATA Online. The user can choose year, model, make, and engine type and then browse through lists of auto components to locate repair information or to find technical service bulletins. ALLDATA includes more than 20 years of repair information and is updated regularly. This is the database of choice for most professional automotive repair shops.


Children's Literature Comprehensive Database

Louisiana Digital Sanborn Maps

This site is only available to patrons of the State Library, the Jefferson Parish Library, and the New Orleans Public Library.

Digitized maps detailing property and land-use for Louisiana cities and towns. Extensive information is given on building construction and use, street names and addresses, and property boundaries. Other features shown include pipelines, railroads, wells, and dumps. Map dates range from 1885 to 1951, with most falling in the early part of the 20th century.


Wilson Web

This feature is only available to patrons inside the State Library:
